Location
It is located in the central part of Myanmar, with the major part of it falling in the dry zone. Magway Division shares borders with Sagaing Division in the north, Mandalay Division in the east, Bago Division in the south, and Rakhine and Chin States in the west. Magway Division has an area of 17,305 square miles.

The majority of the people are Bamar but there are also Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Shan and others.
